National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Medical School

The Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece is staffed by clinical and academic researchers working across the University and at University Hospitals in Athens.

 The expertise within the University spans a full range from molecular techniques through clinical research and clinical trials. State-of-the-art research facilities such animal facility unit, molecular biology, gene transfer/therapy and many other modern molecular technologies are available.

 Clinical studies are focused among others on the molecular mechanisms of kidney disease, cardiovascular diseases and carcinogenesis.

Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Central


Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Central (CHULC) has been part of the Unidade Local de Saúde de São José (ULS São José) since 2024.

ULS São José comprises nine public hospitals located in the Lisbon and Loures areas, with a total capacity of more than 1,500 beds. It also includes 28 Personalized Health Care and Family Health Care Units, along with five other functional units. Altogether, ULS São José employs over 10,000 health professionals.

The direct area of influence of ULS São José covers thirteen parishes in the municipality of Lisbon and four in the municipality of Loures, serving a population of over 380,000 residents and more than 440,000 individuals registered in primary health care units.

The main areas of focus for ULS São José are:
- Response to acute illness
- Domiciliary care
- Primary health care and screening
- Management of complex chronic patients
- Teaching and research


Universitätsklinikum RWTH Aachen

Universitätsklinikum Aachen (UKA1) is constituted by the Institute for Molecular Cardiovascular Research (IMCAR), a research institute localized inside the University Hospital of Aachen. UKA1 is dedicated to pursuing scientific excellence in the field of cardiovascular biology with special focus on chronic renal failure, vascular remodelling and cardiovascular disease.

UKA1 has built his expertise on transgenic mouse models of disease to study cardiovascular disease and vascular remodelling in an in vivo context, as well as on molecular and cellular biology to unravel associated pathological pathways. In addition, IMCAR has extensive expertise in mass spectrometry and chromatography aiming at the identification of novel prognostic factors for cardiovascular risk assessment and the identification and characterization of novel pharmaceutical targets. 

Servizio Andaluz de Salud (University Hospital Reina Sofia)

The mission of the Reina Sofía University Hospital is to improve the health level of its reference population by providing highly specialized and quality healthcare through the authorized portfolio of services. The Hospital will ensure continuity of care through the necessary coordination with Primary Care. It will ensure that the provision of services meets the needs and expectations of citizens by incorporating techniques, procedures and innovations that ensure a constantly updated and cutting-edge portfolio, as befits a third-level hospital.

As a university hospital, the center's mission is to contribute to the training of undergraduate students in related disciplines: currently Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy. The Hospital's mission is also to train specialist physicians in different areas of knowledge.

Together with the Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Córdoba (IMIBIC), the hospital has among its goals the promotion of innovation and quality research in areas related to health.
