Training the next generation of researchers to advance personalised prostate cancer care
PROMOTE is a European doctoral training network bringing together expertise in prostate cancer, molecular profiling, artificial intelligence and translational research.
Our mission is to train a new generation of scientists while generating the knowledge and tools needed to improve the way prostate cancer is detected, characterised and treated.
Prostate cancer is a highly heterogeneous disease. While some tumours remain slow-growing for many years, others progress rapidly or develop resistance to treatment. PROMOTE addresses these challenges by combining omics technologies, advanced computational methods, imaging and experimental research.
Through this interdisciplinary approach, PROMOTE aims to contribute to:
- more accurate and less invasive biomarkers for prostate cancer detection and risk stratification;
- better identification of clinically significant and aggressive disease;
- a deeper understanding of prostate cancer progression and treatment resistance;
- new molecular targets and therapeutic strategies for advanced prostate cancer;
- more personalised treatment decisions based on the individual characteristics of each patient and tumour.
Research and training across Europe
PROMOTE brings together leading academic, clinical and industry partners from Germany, Austria, Greece, Portugal and Spain.
The network combines expertise from universities, university hospitals, research organisations and small and medium-sized enterprises, creating a highly interdisciplinary and intersectoral environment for doctoral research and training.
PROMOTE researchers gain experience across disciplines and sectors through collaborative research, specialised training, secondments and international networking.
Our vision
The overarching goal of PROMOTE is to establish an interdisciplinary, intersectoral and international doctoral training and research programme that connects excellent science with clinically relevant challenges.
By training young researchers at the interface of molecular biology, oncology, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence and translational medicine, PROMOTE aims to foster a new generation of scientists capable of driving innovation in personalised prostate cancer care.
From molecular insight to better patient care
PROMOTE connects fundamental research with clinical needs.
By studying the molecular mechanisms underlying prostate cancer initiation, progression and treatment response, the project seeks to translate biological insights into practical solutions — from improved biomarkers and patient stratification tools to new therapeutic opportunities.
